Area360 extension detecting a property location on a webpage

Area360 can now find property locations on almost any website, giving you instant shortcuts to:

  • Google Maps – see the exact spot and Street View
  • Area360 area profile – explore prices, crime, schools, deprivation, and more for that location

Whether you’re on an agent’s website, Google Maps, or even gov.uk, the extension spots the location and puts everything one click away.

What This New Feature Does

The extension now monitors the page for UK addresses, postcodes, and coordinates. When it finds a likely property location, it shows a small, unobtrusive control that lets you:

  • Quickly view an area summary: crime, deprivation, income, social housing, and nearest public transport
  • Open Google Maps centred on that location
  • Open the Area360 area profile for that postcode or area

Where It Works

This location finder is designed to be website-agnostic. It doesn’t rely on any particular portal – it analyses the page content directly.

Estate & letting agent websites

On popular websites like OnTheMarket, PrimeLocation and many others, the Area360 extension automatically shows a badge with the most relevant postcode for the property.

  2. Open any page with a UK location For example:

  • An agent’s listing page sent to you by email
  • A Google Maps place for a flat you’re tracking
  • An EPC certificate page for a rental you’re reviewing
  1. Let Area360 detect the location The extension scans the visible content for UK postcodes and addresses.

  2. If Area360 doesn’t appear automatically Click the icon in the toolbar and press “Search Locations on This Page”.

Practical Workflows

1. Shortlisting from agent websites

You’re browsing a boutique agent’s website that doesn’t link to any analytics. With the new feature:

  • Open the listing page
  • Let Area360 detect the address or postcode
  • Click “Open Area360 profile”
  • Instantly compare that micro-location on price, crime and schools with others on your shortlist

2. Deep-diving from Google Maps pins

Maybe a friend sent you a Google Maps link to “a great street”. Now you can:

  • Open the Google Maps link
  • Use Area360’s “Search Locations on This Page” to capture the pin’s coordinates
  • Jump straight to the Area360 profile for that area
  • Check if the wider neighbourhood matches your budget and risk appetite

FAQ

  • I don’t see any location appear automatically

    1. Try a manual search by clicking “Search Locations on This Page”.
  • I clicked “Search Locations on This Page” but Area360 didn’t find anything

    1. Check that an address, postcode or map is visible on the page.
    2. If it still isn’t working, feel free to send an example via the contact form.
    3. Please note that some websites are not supported.
  • I see some irrelevant postcodes

    1. If a page shows multiple postcodes, Area360 usually prioritises the one most likely linked to the main listing.
    2. Occasionally, unrelated postcodes may still appear (e.g. the agent’s branch postcode).
    3. If you find a site where detection doesn’t work properly, please send examples – they’re extremely helpful for tuning the detection engine.
  • The extension has disappeared from my browser

    1. The new location-search feature requires refreshed permissions, so the browser may temporarily disable Area360
    2. Click the “Action required” button
