Hope Valley

Hope Valley ward covers a large rural area within the High Peak district, characterised by its expansive moorlands and the central valley from which it takes its name. The landscape is dominated by gritstone edges and farmland, with scattered settlements like Castleton and Bradwell. The local economy has historical ties to limestone quarrying and agriculture, with tourism increasingly significant due to the accessible natural scenery.

The area is defined by a network of caves and natural caverns, including those beneath Castleton which are open for public exploration. Walking and cycling routes follow former railway lines, connecting the villages. Community life is centred around these small villages, each maintaining its own distinct character and local services amidst the wider pastoral setting.
