Clackmannanshire North

The Clackmannanshire North ward encompasses the northernmost portion of this Central Scotland council area. It includes the settlements of Dollar, Muckhart, and Forestmill, with the Ochil Hills forming a significant upland backdrop to the north. The landscape transitions from the flat carseland of the River Forth towards these steep, grassy hills. The area is primarily residential and rural, with agriculture and commuting being central to the local economy.

The historic town of Dollar is a key settlement, situated at the entrance to Dollar Glen which leads up to Castle Campbell. This 15th-century fortress sits in a dramatic wooded gorge, a landmark visible from parts of the ward. The area's geography is defined by the clear geological boundary where the Ochils meet the low-lying Forth Valley, creating distinct scenic character and influencing settlement patterns.
