About

Earlsdon sits about a mile southwest of Coventry city centre. The area is centred on Earlsdon High Street, where independent shops, cafes and pubs line the street and weekly markets or small events take place. To the south Hearsall Common provides open grassland used for walking, community sport and seasonal fairs. Housing is a mix of late Victorian terraces and 1930s semi-detached streets, with local facilities including Earlsdon library, churches and a GP surgery serving residents.
Canley Gardens lies to the west of Earlsdon, formed mainly of post-war housing and council estates laid out in short streets and crescents. Canley railway station on the Coventry–Birmingham line gives direct local rail links. The neighbourhood has a long connection to Coventry’s motor industry: the Standard Motor Company works stood in Canley and much of the residential development was built for factory workers. Small parks, primary schools and community centres anchor daily life, while buses run into the city centre at regular intervals.
