About

Eilean á Chèo, often referred to by its English name of Sleat, is the southernmost ward of the Isle of Skye in the Highland council area. This peninsula is characterised by its low-lying, fertile landscapes and sheltered eastern coastline, which contrast with the more rugged terrain found elsewhere on the island. The area contains several smaller settlements and is connected to the mainland via the ferry terminal at Armadale.

The ward is the site of the Clan Donald Centre at Armadale Castle, which includes gardens, a museum, and estate grounds. Much of Sleat is covered by native woodlands and managed estates. Its relative accessibility and milder climate have supported a mix of agriculture, tourism, and residential life distinct from other parts of Skye.
