Eynsham & Stanton Harcourt

Eynsham is a large village situated along the A40 corridor, with a historic core centred on its square and the medieval church of St Leonard. The settlement has expanded significantly with modern housing, yet retains working agricultural land on its fringes. Its position provides direct access to the Thames Path and the nearby Oxford Canal, linking it to the wider river network.

Stanton Harcourt lies to the southwest, a more compact parish dominated by its notable manor house with a 15th-century medieval tower and Pope's Tower, where the poet Alexander Pope once worked. The landscape here is characterised by flat, open fields and the remnants of gravel extraction pits, now forming lakes. The area is distinctly rural, with the village clustered around its green and the church of St Michael.
