Fortissat

Fortissat ward lies in the southeast of North Lanarkshire, encompassing the towns of Shotts and Harthill along with several smaller villages. The area is characterised by a mix of residential settlements and open, rolling countryside, with former mining landscapes giving way to farmland and woodland. Its communities are connected by the M8 motorway, which forms a significant part of the ward's southern boundary.

A prominent local feature is the Shotts Iron Company's former site, a key part of the area's industrial heritage. The ward contains the large Greenhead Moss community woodland and nature reserve, a reclaimed industrial site now offering walking paths and habitats. Local facilities are centred on the main towns, serving the surrounding rural population.
