Huntington & Hatherton

The Huntington & Hatherton ward is a primarily rural area in South Staffordshire, characterised by farmland, woodland, and scattered settlements. It includes the villages of Huntington, Hatherton, and Shareshill, alongside smaller hamlets and isolated farms. The landscape is defined by fields, hedgerows, and pockets of ancient woodland, with the Wyrley and Essington Canal forming a notable linear feature through its northern section. The area maintains a quiet, residential character with a mix of older properties and newer housing developments.

A network of public footpaths and bridleways crosses the agricultural land, providing access to the countryside. The ward contains several historic sites, including the Grade II listed St Mary's Church in Shareshill, which dates to the 12th century. Local community life often centres around village halls and public houses like the Swan in Shareshill. The area is traversed by the A5 Watling Street, a major historic route that now serves as a key transport corridor linking the ward to Cannock and other parts of the county.
