Lomond North ward encompasses a significant portion of the western shore of Loch Lomond, stretching northwards into the mountainous terrain of the Argyll Forest Park. The area includes the settlements of Arrochar and Tarbet at the head of Loch Long, a key historical route. This landscape is dominated by the steep, rugged profiles of the Arrochar Alps, including the distinctive peak of The Cobbler, which defines the skyline.
The ward is bisected by major transport corridors, with the A82 road and the West Highland Line railway running along the lochside. Land use is primarily characterised by forestry, upland farming, and freshwater recreation centred on the loch. The village of Ardlui marks the northernmost point of Loch Lomond's navigable waters, with the landscape growing increasingly remote beyond it towards Glen Falloch.
