About

Lomond ward covers the northern section of West Dunbartonshire, centred on the town of Alexandria and the village of Renton along the River Leven. The area is defined by the steep, wooded slopes of the Kilpatrick Hills to the north and the flat, industrial heritage of the Leven valley floor. This geography has historically supported textile production and shipbuilding, with former factories and workers' housing shaping many streets.

A key local feature is the Loch Lomond Shores retail and visitor complex at Balloch, which sits at the southern tip of Loch Lomond itself, marking the ward's eastern boundary. The area provides direct access to the loch's shores and the starting point for the West Highland Way long-distance walking route. Inland, the landscape is characterised by residential neighbourhoods interspersed with large public parks and playing fields.
