Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig

Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig is centred on the large residential neighbourhoods of Craigneuk and Muirhouse, which feature extensive post-war housing. The area is defined by its proximity to the River Clyde, which forms its southern boundary. The landscape is marked by the prominent presence of the former Ravenscraig steelworks site, a vast brownfield area that has undergone significant redevelopment over recent decades.

This redevelopment has introduced the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility and a campus of New College Lanarkshire to the area. The ward contains several large retail parks and is a major transport corridor, with the M74 motorway running directly through it. Residential streets are primarily composed of terraced and semi-detached homes, with local services concentrated along the main thoroughfares like Muir Street and Old Edinburgh Road.
