About

Victoria Park ward lies in Glasgow's west end, primarily a residential area centred around its namesake green space. The park itself is a large, formal Victorian creation with wide tree-lined avenues, ornamental flower beds, and a prominent fountain. The housing stock is largely traditional tenements and sandstone villas, giving the streets a consistent, established character. It is bordered by the River Kelvin to the east and the Clyde to the south.

The area is known for the Fossil Grove, a site within the park where the fossilised stumps of 330-million-year-old Lepidodendron trees are preserved *in situ*. This natural monument is housed in a dedicated building. The ward also contains part of the Clydeside industrial corridor, including the former Meadowside Granary site. Local amenities are focused along Crow Road and Dumbarton Road, serving the community with shops and cafes.
