Yardley Wood East

Yardley Wood East is a residential suburb in south-east Birmingham made up largely of mid-20th-century semi-detached and terraced houses, small shopping parades, primary schools and community facilities. Local bus routes provide regular links into Birmingham city centre and across the borough, and convenience shops, a chemist and takeaways are clustered around the main parade. Housing density increases toward the rail corridor to the east, where terraces and short cul-de-sacs are common and local clubs and pubs serve the neighbourhood.

Green space is woven through the area: allotments, playing fields and the River Cole corridor provide routes for walking and cycling. The river corridor includes a narrow floodplain with willow and alder stands and a footbridge that crosses the stream near the north edge of the neighbourhood, giving an easy link between streets and the greenway.
