About

Cookridge and Holt Park lie on the northwest side of Leeds, between Adel and Bramhope, roughly six miles from the city centre. Cookridge grew from a village into a residential suburb with local schools, a parish church and a mix of housing along streets that meet Otley Road (A660). Holt Park was planned as a council estate in the 1970s; its shopping centre, library and bus interchange form the estate’s focal point and were built as part of that development. Regular bus services run from the Holt Park interchange into central Leeds and to nearby suburbs.

To the north and east, Eccup Reservoir and Golden Acre Park provide lakeside walking routes and marked trails that are used by walkers and birdwatchers. The area also includes patches of woodland and sports pitches used by local clubs. Small shops, primary schools and community centres serve residents, while the street pattern and the raised shopping deck at Holt Park reflect the estate’s 1970s layout and planning approach.
