Kenley

Kenley ward is a residential area situated on the southern edge of the London Borough of Croydon, bordering the Surrey countryside. It is characterised by its quiet, leafy streets and a high proportion of detached and semi-detached houses, contributing to a suburban atmosphere. The area is primarily known for its proximity to open green spaces like Riddlesdown Common and the Kenley Common section of the Coulsdon Commons, which offer walking routes and views over the North Downs.

The ward is historically significant for the former Royal Air Force station, Kenley Aerodrome, a key fighter base during the Battle of Britain. Much of the airfield's historic perimeter and several original blast pens are preserved within a conservation area, creating a large, open grassland space unique to suburban London. Local amenities are centred along the main roads, with a few shops, schools, and the Kenley Memorial Hall serving the community.
