About

Low Moor sits to the south of Bradford city centre, within the City of Bradford, West Yorkshire. The area grew around the Low Moor Iron Works in the late 18th and 19th centuries; the works produced a particular cast iron alloy and left a pattern of stone terraced housing, blind brickwork and former mill chimneys. Remains of the ironworks and related infrastructure can still be seen alongside streets and small workshops, and the imprint of railway sidings marks the industrial past.

Today Low Moor combines residential streets with pockets of light industry and local shops. Low Moor railway station was reopened in 2017, restoring rail links that connect the area with Bradford and nearby towns. Community facilities include a primary school, a community centre and allotment plots on former industrial land. Short walks from the centre lead to ginnels and terraces that reflect the area's history, while recent redevelopment has introduced modern units on brownfield sites, maintaining a working-centre character within easy reach of the city.
