New Longton & Hutton East

The New Longton & Hutton East ward is situated on the eastern fringe of the South Ribble borough, bordering the city of Preston. The area is primarily residential, characterised by a mix of housing developments from different eras, alongside local shops and community facilities. Its landscape is largely flat, typical of the West Lancashire coastal plain, with agricultural fields defining its rural edges.

The ward contains the distinct villages of New Longton and Hutton, which maintain their own identities and local centres. A notable feature is the presence of Hutton Grammar School, a historic institution with origins dating back to the 16th century. Open spaces like Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve provide wetland habitats, while the area is traversed by the Liverpool-Preston railway line, connecting it to the wider region.
