Park Hill & Wybourn

Park Hill & Wybourn is a residential area located directly southeast of Sheffield city centre, built across a steep hillside overlooking the railway lines and the River Don. The landscape is dominated by the monumental, Grade II*-listed Park Hill estate, a vast example of post-war Brutalist architecture known for its "streets in the sky." The area's topography creates a distinct separation from the central commercial districts, with its own local shops and community facilities serving the neighbourhoods.

The layout is defined by this major social housing development and the surrounding terraced streets of Wybourn. A network of footpaths and stairways connects the different levels of the hillside. The area is directly adjacent to Sheffield Midland station's rail corridors, with the Park Hill flats forming a prominent backdrop to arrivals into the city. Recent phases of renovation have introduced modern apartments into sections of the iconic estate, creating a mix of old and new within the same concrete framework.
