About

Strathearn covers a broad section of the Earn River valley, extending from the eastern edges of Loch Earn towards the flatter lands near the River Tay. The A85 road and railway line follow the valley floor, connecting a series of historic towns and villages. The landscape is predominantly agricultural, with mixed farming set against a backdrop of rising hills to both the north and south, including the Braes of the Carse.

The area is centred on the market town of Crieff, with other significant settlements including Comrie, St Fillans, and Auchterarder. The presence of several notable estates and large country houses shapes much of the local land use. Glenturret Distillery, situated near Crieff, holds the official title of Scotland's oldest working distillery, having been established in the 18th century.
