Basingstoke and Deane is a local government district in north Hampshire, in South East England, centred on the town of Basingstoke. The district includes towns and villages such as Tadley, Overton, Kingsclere and Silchester, and is crossed by the M3 motorway and a key rail junction at Basingstoke station. Industry and retail are concentrated around Basingstoke town, which hosts Festival Place shopping centre and several business parks. The Basingstoke Canal and the River Loddon run through the borough, providing sites for walking and wildlife.
The district covers a mix of urban and agricultural land, with farms, hedgerows and pockets of ancient woodland.
