Berkhamsted West

Berkhamsted West ward lies on the western side of the historic market town of Berkhamsted, within the Dacorum district. The area is characterised by residential streets, with housing ranging from Victorian and Edwardian properties to more modern developments. It contains local shops and services along the main routes, serving the immediate community. The Grand Union Canal forms a distinct boundary to the east, separating it from the town centre.

The ward includes a significant portion of the Ashridge Estate, a large area of woodland and chalk downland managed by the National Trust. This provides extensive public access to open countryside directly from the urban edge. Residential areas are situated on the lower slopes rising from the canal, with views often oriented towards the surrounding Chiltern Hills. The local infrastructure supports several schools and community facilities within its boundaries.
