Birkdale

Birkdale is a suburb of the town of Southport in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, on the Sefton coast of Merseyside. The centre of Birkdale is known locally as Birkdale Village, where a parade of shops, cafes and community facilities cluster around the main shopping streets. Birkdale railway station sits on the Merseyrail Northern Line and provides regular services toward Southport and Liverpool, making rail travel a common choice for commuters and visitors. Residential areas are made up of streets with houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and small local parks that serve neighbourhoods across the suburb.

The coastline at Birkdale includes dune systems and a promenade that link into the coastal environment. Royal Birkdale Golf Club occupies a stretch of links land beside the sea and has staged The Open Championship on multiple occasions.
