Bishop's Stortford North

Bishop's Stortford North encompasses a mix of residential estates and significant green spaces on the northern edge of the historic market town. The area is largely defined by post-war housing developments, with a network of local shops and schools serving the community. Its western boundary follows the River Stort, which provides a natural corridor for walking and cycling. The ward includes the neighbourhoods of Thorley Park and the northern parts of Bishop's Stortford proper, characterised by suburban streets and cul-de-sacs.

The landscape is notably marked by the presence of Thorley Wash, a large flood meadow and local nature reserve that acts as a natural basin for the river. Open farmland borders the northernmost sections, separating the ward from Stansted Airport. A key local feature is the Twyford Bury Farm area, with its historic moated site. Transport links are central, with the M11 motorway running along the eastern boundary and the Bishop's Stortford railway station providing connections to London and Cambridge.
