Bishop's Waltham

Bishop's Waltham is a ward centred on a historic market town situated in the Meon Valley, approximately eight miles southeast of Winchester city centre. The area is defined by its position within the South Downs National Park, with surrounding downland and farmland. Its built environment is characterised by older properties along the High Street and newer residential developments on the fringes. The town's layout remains focused on its traditional core.

The notable ruins of Bishop's Waltham Palace, a medieval moated palace built by the Bishops of Winchester, are a central feature within the town. The local economy includes independent shops, services, and a regular street market. Recreational spaces include the Palace ruins grounds, the adjacent Moors parkland with its walking paths, and the recreational grounds on Winchester Road. The ward contains several schools and community facilities serving the local population.
