Bolton & Slyne

Bolton & Slyne is a primarily residential ward on the northern outskirts of Lancaster. It encompasses several distinct villages, including Bolton-le-Sands and Slyne, alongside areas of modern housing development. The landscape is characterised by flat coastal mossland and the presence of the Lancaster Canal, which runs through the area. The ward is bordered by Morecambe Bay, providing a distinct coastal edge.

The area is largely residential, with local services centred in the village communities. The ward contains significant transport corridors, including the A6 road and the West Coast Main Line railway. The Ashton Memorial, a prominent local landmark on a hilltop, is actually located just outside the ward's southern boundary in Williamson Park. The Lancaster Canal here is popular for walking and boating, offering a linear route through the settlements.
