Botley & Kennington

Botley sits on the western edge of Oxford, characterised by a functional mix of residential streets and retail parks. The area is dominated by the Seacourt Park & Ride and the large Botley shopping centre, which serves as a major retail hub for the wider community. The main railway line to Oxford runs directly through, with Botley station providing a key commuter link. Housing is largely post-war, with a range of terraced homes, semis, and modern estates spreading out from the central focus of the shops and services.

Immediately to the south, Kennington is more residential and village-like in feel, situated on a rise above the Thames floodplain. It is bordered by Bagley Wood to the south and contains a mix of older cottages and substantial 20th-century housing. The area is defined by its proximity to both the University of Oxford's science area and the open spaces of the river meadows. Kennington's local centre includes a primary school, a village hall, and several pubs, maintaining a distinct identity separate from the more commercial Botley.
