About

Braunston sits in West Northamptonshire at the meeting point of the Oxford Canal and the Grand Union Canal. The village grew around its waterways and still supports two marinas and several boatyards where narrowboats are serviced and moored. Towpaths run beside a series of locks and bridge crossings; local leisure and working boats use those routes year round. Village facilities include a parish church and a small cluster of shops and pubs that serve passing boaters and residents alike.

A few miles to the north, Crick occupies higher ground and is centred on its own marina and wharf. Each spring the Crick Boat Show brings traders, boaters and visitors to the moorings for a showcase of inland waterways equipment and narrowboats. Surrounding both villages are fields and hedgerows with public footpaths that link the canal network to lanes and farm tracks. The area remains focused on canal activity, rural land use and the services that support them.
