Brighton le Sands & Crosby West

Brighton-le-Sands and Crosby West sit on the Sefton coast north of Liverpool, a mix of terraces and semi-detached houses that step down toward the shoreline. The area has a local high street with shops, takeaways and community facilities, and is served by Blundellsands & Crosby station on the Merseyrail line. Schools, churches and small parks are interspersed with residential streets, and a number of postwar housing pockets reflect the area's mid-20th-century growth. Local groups run clubs and events that use the promenade and halls as meeting points, so everyday life often moves between home, the station and the seafront.

The coastline here is defined by a long promenade and a pebble beach that faces Liverpool Bay and the Wirral on the far side of the water. Along the shore the cast-iron figures of Another Place by Antony Gormley stand out, placed at regular intervals and visible at low tide. Walks along the promenade connect to cycle routes and foreshore paths, and tides shape how people use the beach for fishing, walking dogs and watching shipping on the estuary.
