Central Solihull & Sharmans Cross

Central Solihull is the town’s commercial and civic heart, centred on the High Street, Mell Square and the Touchwood shopping centre. St Alphege Church stands close to the High Street and the railway station provides regular services into Birmingham and beyond. Parks sit within a short walk: Brueton Park lies alongside the town centre with a lake and nature reserve, while Tudor Grange Park and its leisure centre host local sports fixtures and community events. Council services, shops, cafés and market stalls concentrate activity around the core throughout the week.

Sharmans Cross lies a short distance southwest of the centre, straddling Sharmans Cross Road and composed mainly of residential streets from the early- and mid-20th century. A small parade of shops, primary schools and regular bus routes serve local needs and link the neighbourhood to the town centre. To the south of Sharmans Cross the urban area gives way to open green belt and playing fields, making short walks out into quieter lanes and countryside easily accessible without leaving the borough.
