About

Chapel-en-le-Frith sits on the northern rim of the Peak District within the High Peak borough. The town grew around a medieval chapel and its market place remains a local focal point. Eccles Pike rises just to the west, a short walk from the centre that ends at a trig point with views across the surrounding gritstone edges. The town serves as a convenient base for walkers heading onto the moors and for those aiming for routes across Kinder Scout and the surrounding gritstone plateaux.

Hope Valley runs east–west through the heart of the national park and includes villages such as Hope, Castleton, Bamford and Edale. The River Noe threads the valley floor past Hope and Castleton, where show caves open into mined veins of Blue John, the banded fluorite found locally in Treak Cliff and Blue John caverns. Edale marks the southern end of the Pennine Way, and the valley is crossed by a dense network of footpaths, bridleways and quiet lanes that link farms, quarries and small village centres.
