Charlbury and Finstock

Charlbury and Finstock ward encompasses the small Cotswold town of Charlbury and the neighbouring village of Finstock, set within the Evenlode Valley. The area is characterised by its rural landscape of woodland and farmland, with the River Evenlode flowing through. Charlbury is a historic market town centred on its railway station and a compact network of streets with stone-built properties. Finstock is a smaller linear settlement along a main road, surrounded by open fields and patches of ancient woodland.

The local economy has traditional roots in agriculture, though many residents now commute to Oxford or other employment centres via the Cotswold Line railway. The ward contains several conservation areas, with buildings primarily constructed from local limestone. A notable local tradition is the annual Charlbury Street Fair, a community event with a history spanning several centuries. The area is also known for its network of public footpaths connecting the settlements to the surrounding countryside and Wychwood Forest.
