Christchurch Park

Christchurch Park sits at the heart of Ipswich and is centred on Christchurch Mansion, a 16th-century house that contains the town’s local art and social history collections, including paintings by John Constable. Paths and lawns run between clusters of mature trees and a walled garden beside the mansion. A Victorian bandstand stands on the main lawn and is used for summer concerts; a weekly 5 km Parkrun follows a route through the park’s paths and around the main green.

Facilities around the park include tennis courts, bowling greens, a café and a children’s play area, all reached from the surrounding streets. Events, from open-air music to community gatherings, commonly use the mansion forecourt and the lawn near the bandstand. Wildlife such as common garden birds and foxes is seen alongside specimen trees and managed herbaceous borders.
