Countesthorpe & Kilby

Countesthorpe and Kilby sit in the Blaby district of Leicestershire, a mix of built-up village centre and surrounding farmland. Countesthorpe contains local shops, a community centre and sports pitches, with housing set around a main street and newer residential areas. Day-to-day life is organised around parish and district services, primary schooling and small businesses that serve nearby settlements. The village green and war memorial form a focal point for seasonal community activities and local clubs meet in halls and on the playing fields.

Kilby lies a short distance to the west and is smaller in scale, with lanes, arable fields and a scattering of houses and farms. The Grand Union Canal passes at Kilby Bridge, where narrowboats and towpath users meet the lane that crosses the water, creating a recognisable local scene.
