About

Cromer sits on the North Norfolk coast with a long seafront and a Victorian pier that projects into the North Sea. The pier houses a small Pavilion Theatre where the traditional end-of-pier variety show continues during the summer season. A shingle beach gives way to sand at low tide and a cliff-top promenade follows the coastline; the Norfolk Coast Path runs through the area, linking the seafront to nearby headlands. Fishermen launch from small slipways and moorings along the beach, and the RNLI lifeboat station stands close to the town centre.

The compact high street rises from the cliffs into streets of 19th-century terraces and independent shops. Local boats land the Cromer crab, which appears on many menus and is sold from fishmongers near the harbour. The Henry Blogg Lifeboat Museum records lifeboat history here, and seasonal events on the pier and promenade draw visitors for day trips. Road and rail links connect Cromer to the wider county while the town remains oriented toward the sea and its working harbour.
