Drewsteignton

Drewsteignton ward covers a largely rural expanse of northern West Devon, characterised by rolling farmland, wooded valleys, and scattered hamlets. The landscape is defined by the upper valleys of the River Teign and its tributaries, which carve through the area. The settlement of Drewsteignton itself, with its stone buildings and notable church, serves as the central village. Agriculture remains a key presence across the open fields and pastoral land that dominates the ward's topography.

The area lies within the northeastern fringe of Dartmoor National Park, with its high moorland forming a distinct boundary to the south. A specific local landmark is the prehistoric dolmen known as Spinsters' Rock, a chambered tomb situated in a field near the village. This part of Devon is known for its quiet lanes, historic farmsteads, and access to walking routes along the river valleys and onto the lower slopes of the moor.
