East Folkestone

East Folkestone ward is a residential area located directly north of Folkestone town centre. It is primarily made up of Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing, with some post-war developments. The ward is bordered by the main railway line to the north and the A259 Folkestone Road to the west, creating a distinct urban neighbourhood. Its streets form a grid pattern leading down towards the older heart of the town.

The area is served by local shops along Foord Road and several primary schools. Cheriton Road Cemetery, a large Victorian burial ground, provides a significant green space within the ward. Transport links are central to its character, with Folkestone Central railway station situated just outside its southern boundary, offering direct services to London. The housing is largely uniform, creating a consistent streetscape typical of this period of expansion.
