Ellel

Ellel ward lies on the eastern outskirts of the Lancaster district. The area is primarily residential, with housing developments and local amenities serving the community. It contains several small villages and hamlets, such as Galgate and Ellel, set within a landscape of open farmland and gentle fields. The ward's boundary follows the course of the River Conder, which flows through the southern part of the area.

A notable presence here is the campus of Lancaster University, located within the ward's boundaries. This brings a large student population and academic facilities to the otherwise rural setting. The Lancaster Canal also runs through the area, providing a route for leisure walking and boating.
