About

Fleggburgh, Rollesby and Martham lie in the borough of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on the northern edge of the Broads National Park. The area is shaped by broads, marshes and a network of drainage dykes that meet small lanes and hedgerows. Rollesby Broad and Martham Broad sit close to their villages, fringed by reedbeds and crossed by narrow channels used for small craft. Surrounding land is largely pasture and arable, with fields meeting fen where pumping stations and drainage sluices mark the boundary between wetland and farmed ground.

The three settlements form a loose cluster of services and community buildings: Martham provides the larger high street, shops and a parish church; Rollesby gives direct access to its broad and shoreline; Fleggburgh sits on the road toward Acle and retains a village hall and green. Reedbeds and marsh attract waterfowl and waders through the year, and the narrow channels carry punts and small sailing boats between moorings and open water. Local footpaths and minor roads give direct sightlines to the broads and to the sluices that control the low-lying landscape.
