About

Frankley sits on Birmingham’s south-west edge, where the city boundary meets Worcestershire. The modern residential area known as New Frankley in Birmingham became a city civil parish in 2000 after boundary changes; the original village of Frankley remained in Bromsgrove. The neighbourhood is made up mainly of post-war housing estates with local shops, a primary school, a community centre and parish facilities that serve day-to-day needs. Streets link into neighbouring suburbs and routes toward the city and towns to the west without extending into the older village core across the county line.

To the west of the settlement lies Frankley Reservoir and the adjoining water treatment works, a working utility site that also provides open water and fringe grassland used by walkers and birdwatchers. Pockets of scrub and fields remain close to the housing, giving short routes into quieter countryside on the Worcestershire side. Local public transport offers regular connections toward Birmingham city centre and industrial areas to the east, while road links provide access for commuting and local services.
