Galliagh

Galliagh is a residential ward situated on the northwestern edge of Derry City. The area is primarily composed of housing estates, with local commercial activity centred along the Skeoge Road and the smaller Galliagh Road. The landscape is characterised by gentle slopes, with many homes offering views over the city and the River Foyle estuary in the distance. Open green spaces and playing fields are integrated throughout the neighbourhoods.

A significant local feature is the large, undeveloped expanse of the former Skeoge Army Base, which shapes the area's western boundary. The ward is home to several community centres and schools that serve its population. The main thoroughfare provides a direct route towards the border with County Donegal, influencing daily movement patterns.
