Gipping

Gipping ward covers a residential area in the north of Ipswich, centred around the Norwich Road corridor. The housing is primarily a mix of Victorian terraces and inter-war semis, with some modern infill developments. It is a densely populated area with local shopping parades serving the community's everyday needs. The ward includes the former sites of the Ipswich Cattle Market and the historic Tolly Cobbold brewery, though these have been largely redeveloped.

The ward is bordered to the north by the railway line and the River Gipping, which gives the area its name. Whitton Church Lane and the recreation grounds near Bourne Park provide green space. The area is well-connected by several major bus routes along Norwich Road. Gipping contains the town's main water treatment works, a significant but less visible infrastructure feature situated near the river.
