Gomshall, Shere & Albury

Gomshall, Shere and Albury form a cluster of villages within the Surrey Hills, connected by the winding course of the Tillingbourne stream. The area is characterised by wooded slopes, farmland and historic timber-framed buildings. Gomshall retains a functional character with its former mill and main road location, while Shere and Albury are set back in more secluded valleys. The landscape is defined by the gentle topography of the Greensand Ridge.

The network of public footpaths, including the North Downs Way, provides extensive access to the surrounding hills and commons. The villages share a history tied to the local watercourses, which once powered several industries. Albury's notable parkland, with its ornamental trees and silent pool, contrasts with the more intimate scale of Shere's village green and medieval church.
