Gorleston

Gorleston ward lies on the southern bank of the River Yare, directly opposite Great Yarmouth's town centre. The area is primarily residential, featuring a mix of Victorian terraces and more modern housing developments. Its economy has traditional links to the port and maritime services, though it now also serves as a commuter base for the wider borough. The ward includes the southern approaches to the Haven Bridge, a key transport link across the river.

The ward's defining feature is its expansive, sandy south-facing beach, which is notably wider and gentler than the one across the estuary. A long esplanade and the grassy Gorleston Cliffs provide open recreational space overlooking the North Sea. The area is anchored by the lifeboat station, one of the busiest in the country, reflecting its ongoing maritime character. Inland, the streets centre around the High Street, which provides local shopping and services.
