Gortalee

Gortalee ward lies within the borough of Mid and East Antrim, situated to the north of Larne Lough. The area encompasses a mix of low-density residential development and open, rural land. Its landscape is characterised by gently rolling fields and scattered woodland, with a largely agricultural character. The ward includes the small settlement of Ballycarry and extends towards the shoreline of the lough.

The area is part of the broader Islandmagee peninsula. Local geography features the older Ballycarry Bridge crossing the Kilroot River. The Kilroot Power Station, a notable landmark with its distinctive cooling towers, is located within the ward's boundaries, contributing to the local economy. Views across the lough often take in the Antrim hills to the west.
