Great Boughton

Great Boughton ward lies on the eastern edge of Chester, primarily comprising residential suburbs and significant green spaces. The area is defined by its proximity to the River Gowy and the Shropshire Union Canal, which trace its western boundary. Housing is a mix of modern estates and older properties, with local services centred along Christleton Road. The ward includes the distinct communities of Great Boughton itself, along with parts of Boughton Heath and Vicars Cross, creating a settled, community-focused environment.

The geography is characterised by open fields and woodland, particularly around the Countess of Chester Country Park. This large parkland, with its network of paths, is a central feature for recreation. The area is also notable for its educational institutions, including The King's School's extensive playing fields. While largely residential, there is some light industry and business parks near the A41, which provides a key transport route into Chester city centre and connects to the wider motorway network.
