Greenfield & Uppermill

Greenfield sits at the western edge of Oldham, where the urban landscape gives way to the steep, wooded slopes of the Saddleworth valleys. The area is defined by the River Tame and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, which run parallel through its centre. It serves as a gateway to the surrounding moorland, with residential streets climbing the hillsides from the main transport routes.

Immediately adjacent, Uppermill forms the central village of Saddleworth, with its distinct stone architecture lining the main road. The canal is a focal point here, passing by former mills and under historic bridges. A notable community-run museum detailing the area's industrial past is housed in a former mill building. Independent shops and cafes occupy the ground floors of the traditional stone buildings that characterise the village centre.
