Hale

Hale is an area in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester. The village centre runs along Hale Road and Ashley Road, with independent shops, cafes and pubs clustered around that junction. A Metrolink stop on the Altrincham line sits at the edge of the centre, providing frequent tram services along the line into the wider network. The layout is compact: the high street, the station and short residential streets form the core of day-to-day activity.

Housing around the centre mixes nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century villas and terraces with later suburban development. The A560 (Hale Road) is the main through route and frames much local movement. Community facilities — primary schools, halls and sports pitches — serve a largely local catchment, and nearby stretches of greenbelt and playing fields offer space for walking and sport. The result is an area where village-scale shops and commuter links sit within a suburban pattern that still shows its nineteenth-century street plan.
