Hampton

Hampton ward encompasses a primarily rural portion of northeastern Herefordshire, bordering Worcestershire. The landscape is characterised by rolling farmland, hedgerows, and scattered woodland, with the River Lugg forming part of its western boundary. Settlement is focused on the small village of Hampton Charles and several hamlets and isolated farmsteads. The area's economy is historically and presently linked to agriculture, particularly livestock and arable farming on its fertile soils.

A notable feature within the ward is the earthwork remains of the medieval Mortimer's Castle, a motte and bailey fortress situated on a prominent ridge. The quiet, narrow lanes and public footpaths traverse this agricultural land, connecting the settlements. The ward's eastern edge rises towards the wooded slopes of Marcle Ridge, which marks the county boundary and offers expansive views back across the Herefordshire countryside.
