About

Hapton & Lowerhouse is a ward to the south-west of Burnley town centre that combines a village core at Hapton with residential streets in Lowerhouse. The area grew around 19th-century textile and mining industries, and traces of that past remain in stone terraces and converted mill sites. Local life centres on primary schools, small shops and community centres that serve a broad catchment, while regular bus routes connect the ward to Burnley town centre and surrounding villages.

Open ground and playing fields rise towards Hameldon Hill on the ward’s southern edge, and on clear days there are long views across the valley to Pendle Hill. Recreational paths and street networks reflect the transition from industrial plots to suburban plots, and some former industrial sites have been adapted for housing or community use. The M65 corridor lies close by, giving direct road links without bringing the town centre into the ward itself.
