About

Harleston is a market town in South Norfolk, close to the River Waveney and the county boundary. The town centre runs along a long high street with independent shops, cafés, a library, health centre and a community hall. The marketplace reflects a medieval origin and still hosts market stalls and produce events that draw people from the surrounding parishes. Primary school, sports clubs and small businesses provide services for a wide rural catchment.

The Pulham area includes Pulham Market and Pulham St Mary, each clustered around a village green and a parish church with medieval roots. The landscape is low-lying arable fields, hedgerows and winding lanes with public footpaths and cycle routes linking farms to the town. Narrow fingerpost signposts remain on some minor lanes, and a number of barns retain weatherboarding and timber frames from the 18th and 19th centuries. Wetland habitats along the Waveney valley support waterfowl and provide places for anglers and walkers.
